Frequently asked questions

How many gravel races are there in Europe in 2026?

This directory lists 198 gravel races across 25 European countries, from one-day events to ultra-distances of more than 800 km, with Spain as the country with the most events.

When does the gravel season start in Europe?

In southern Europe it kicks off in February-March; the main peak runs April to July (The Traka, the Gralloch or the Dolomites) with a second window in September-October. Ultra-distances and the Nordic events cluster in summer.

What are the UCI Gravel World Series and the Gravel Earth Series?

They are the two major international series. The UCI Gravel World Series awards qualifying spots for the Gravel World Championships with rounds across most of Europe; the Gravel Earth Series groups long-distance events such as The Traka, The Hills or The River.

How do I register for a gravel race?

Each event handles registration on its own official website (linked in every entry). The most popular races open at a set date and time and sell out fast: create your account ahead of time and follow the openings.

What are the most important gravel races in Europe?

Among the best known are The Traka (Girona), Badlands (Granada), Nova Eroica (Tuscany), The Gralloch (Scotland) and Gravel One Fifty (Netherlands), plus the UCI Gravel World Series rounds spread across the continent.

What level do I need for a gravel race?

There are events for every level: accessible one-day gran fondos for any rider with an aerobic base, and ultra-distances of over 500 km that demand experience, self-sufficiency and several months of specific preparation.
