About
The GranGuanche Audax Road is one of Spain's most demanding ultra-distance cycling events, covering 750 kilometres with 17,000 metres of elevation gain across the volcanic island of Lanzarote. The format is fully self-supported: no external assistance, no organized feed stations. Riders navigate lava fields, secondary roads and open terrain through the raw landscapes of the Canary Islands, departing from Arrecife. The island's stark geology and persistent trade winds add an extra layer of complexity to an already formidable challenge. Reaching the finish requires the full 12-week programme: the aerobic base phase builds the metabolic efficiency needed to sustain effort across multiple days, race-specific nutrition — autonomous fuelling and hourly hydration — is rehearsed in training long before the start line, and fatigue management and pacing over multi-day efforts are shaped with the coach so that neither becomes a surprise mid-race on the island. Suited to experienced long-distance bikepackers who are comfortable managing all those variables autonomously.

Nutrition is addressed in three stages: metabolic adaptation, on-bike fuelling training, and race-day protocol. Your coach reviews each weekly block and adjusts load based on real recovery data.
