About

The Balaton Gravel Derby runs along the northern shore of Lake Balaton, Central Europe's largest lake, through the Badacsony wine region where extinct volcanic hills rise steeply from the water and ancient vineyards cling to their slopes. Two very different formats share the same start line: a 100-kilometre route with 4,000 metres of climbing for riders who want an intense single-day effort, and a 370-kilometre ultra with a 42-hour time limit for those drawn to overnight bikepacking and the management of prolonged physical effort. The race takes place on 28 August, when the Hungarian summer is still warm but the evening light has already begun to soften. The two formats demand radically different preparation blocks within the Push Rider method: the 100 km is built with watt-targeted power peaks over accumulated climbing in the specificity phase, while the 370 km ultra requires a phased nutrition protocol, heat-management strategy and race plan refined session by session with the coach across the full 12 weeks.
