The race

Ranxo Gravel is the summer event of the Klassmark family. It starts from Ponts, in the heart of inland Catalonia, and crosses tracks, trails and rural roads of the Solsonès and Pallars. Three distances for all levels, counting towards the Gravel Earth Series, and a festival atmosphere that has made it one of the most popular events on the Spanish calendar.

What makes it hard

  • Extreme heat: first weekend of June in the inland peninsula. High-noon sun, unsheltered sections and long kilometres without water support.
  • Mixed terrain: loose gravel sections, forest trails, short tarmac transitions. You need to handle pace and position changes efficiently.
  • International field: being a Gravel Earth Series qualifier, the front of the race goes fast from km 0. Burning yourself out in the first hour is the most common consequence.
  • Rural logistics: poor signal, small villages, spaced aid stations. Your nutrition needs to be solved before the start.

How we prepare you

A 12-week block focusing on heat acclimatisation, long zone 3-4 intervals on loose terrain, and cadence sessions to manage the gravel-tarmac transitions. Nutrition plan adapted to the June inland heat: we prioritise electrolytes, fluids and fast carbohydrates over heavy solid food.

Limited spots per edition. If you want to arrive in Ponts knowing exactly what you are going to do in each of the three thirds, apply.

FAQ

Questions about Ranxo Gravel

When does the Ranxo Gravel 2026 take place?

The 2026 edition is on 7 June in Ponts (Lleida). Typical start time between 7:30 and 8:00 to avoid midday heat in unsheltered sections.

What distances does the Ranxo Gravel offer?

Three distances for different levels. The long distance exceeds 140 km with significant elevation gain; the medium is the entry point to the Gravel Earth Series; the short works as an introduction to competitive gravel.

Why is the Ranxo Gravel part of the Gravel Earth Series?

It is part of the international gravel circuit organised by the same promoter as The Traka. That means an international peloton, the gravel world elite, and points toward the overall circuit classification.

What is the terrain like at Ranxo Gravel?

Mixed gravel with white tracks, forest trails and short tarmac transitions. The Solsonès and Pallars areas offer technical climbs, rolling false flats and broken descents. 40-50 mm tubeless tyres is the standard choice.

What hydration do I need for Ranxo Gravel in June?

Real heat in the inland peninsula. At least 750-1000 ml/h of fluid and 700-1000 mg/h of sodium. Big bottles and planned aid stations — do not wait until you are thirsty to drink.

What is the recommended minimum FTP to finish well?

For the long distance, 2.8 W/kg of FTP is the reasonable floor. Below that you can complete it but race time exceeds 7-8 hours in the heat, which takes a heavy toll mentally.

Are there official aid stations or do I need to carry everything?

There are official aid stations with fluid, gels and bars at planned points. But the rural roads of the Solsonès have long sections without support. We always recommend personal top-ups and at least one private feed point for long-distance events.

How many weeks of preparation do I need for Ranxo?

Twelve structured weeks for the long distance if you come with prior base. The June heat requires specific acclimatisation in the 4 weeks before: rides at peak temperature hours, trained fluid intake and testing gels that tolerate heat.
